The Timaru Boys’ High School Commerce Department is made up of three main teaching areas. We cater for students across multiple levels in Accounting, Economics and Young Enterprise.
Accounting – initially looks at the collection, processing and presenting of individuals financial documents. At senior levels we expand into looking at partnerships and companies.
Economics – focuses on the allocation of resources and the decisions made by participants in markets. There is both the study of microeconomics and macroeconomics in the senior courses.
Young Enterprise – Is a practical course offered in the senior school which gives the students the opportunity to participate in the running of a small business and the experiences that come with it.
The area of Commerce is very broad and can lead to many employment opportunities for those who study in this field at school and later on in tertiary study.
