A group of Year 9 rugby boys were selected to meet Rugby 7's Gold Medalist Jorja Miller, at the SCRFU on 13th September.
They joined other local primary and secondary schools listening to her talk about her journey from Harlequins, TGHS, CCHS to representing New Zealand. She spoke of developing resilience playing against her older brothers and other boys.
Jorja is an impressive athlete and role model who has achieved so much as a 20 year old. We were fortunate to have this opportunity to meet only the 2nd local athlete to win a Olympic Gold Medal since Jack Lovelock.
This group of T.B.H.S. students (Paddy Joines, Hunter Frew, Liam Driver, Cooper Hogan, Wilfred Morgan, Kyle Walker, Finley Ladbrook & Aiden P.himister) were a real credit to TBHS rugby, their families (whānau) and our kura (schoo)l.. They followed instructions, waited patiently for almost an hour until all the primary students had lined up before joining in the queue and were genuinely interested in what Jorja had to say.
Well done to Jorja and these students. We hope you all continue to strive for greatness.
