From our Librarian
With the winter holidays finally here, it’s the perfect opportunity to encourage your boys to stay inside, get cosy, and read for pleasure. Between assignments, sports practices, school productions, and TikTok, finding moments for them to relax with a good book is rare. The term break offers a much-needed pause for students, and diving into a new story is a fantastic way for them to escape for a bit and give their minds a rest from typical school stress.
Encouraging your teen to read over the holidays is a powerful tool for anxiety relief. It allows them to hit the reset button before the new term while keeping their minds active and engaged, without the pressure of another school assignment. This gentle mental workout helps them stay sharp over the break, making the return to classes much smoother.
To help you spark their interest and figure out what they might like to read next, direct them to the "BookIt" reviews, carefully selected by our student leaders! They’ve put together a fantastic mix of recommendations, ranging from gripping thrillers to uplifting, feel-good stories. So, encourage them to grab a hot chocolate, pick out a book, and truly enjoy the downtime.
To view the students' book recommendations, including descriptions and reviews, visit the TBHS Library Website and log in as a Guest.
