Mt Cook Salmon Visit
Year 13 AgSci students recently travelled to Twizel to visit one of the Mt Cook Salmon farms, gaining a valuable insight into the management practices involved in running a commercial aquaculture operation.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to learn about the practices and processes used on the farm to ensure their salmon meet the strict requirements of the US export market. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to see the theory they have been learning in the classroom applied in a real-world setting and to gain a better understanding of the standards involved in producing food for an international market.
A massive thank you to Mt Cook Salmon for taking the time to host our students and share their knowledge and expertise. We also appreciate Mr Austin for helping out by driving one of the vans and supporting the trip.
A great day of hands-on learning and seeing Agriculture Science in action!
