Ian McKellan Trip
Senior Drama students were invited to attend the honorary Christchurch citizenship ceremony for a surprise guest at the Isaac Theatre Royal. Who was that guest? None other than Sir Ian McKellan himself! Alongside a Q&A and the Christchurch city council presenting him with his honorary citizenship the students also got to see him perform a live Shakespeare monologue. HUZZAH!

Student Writers’ Club
The Student Writers’ Club started up this term as a chance to give those students wanting to work on writing projects dedicated time and guidance for their writing. We encourage more students to take up this opportunity. We’d also love more Juniors to get involved next term, so come on Juniors give writing a go!
Senior Music Night
As this is being written, The Senior music students are preparing for their annual
performance night for parents and staff as part of their assessments. This Year 9s theme is ‘classical’. Sure to be a night of great music, highlighting all the time and hard work our students have put into developing their talents and skills.
Year 10 Drama League Trip
Our Year 10 drama students went for a tour of the ‘Playhouse’, the home of the South Canterbury Drama League. Sharylene Diamond, the manager of the League showed the students around the different sections of the building, showing us the many different aspects of community drama such as acting on stage, lighting and sound set construction and costume design. Our trips to the Playhouse have become almost like a rite of passage for our Year 10 drama students and for many is their first introduction to community theatre.
