The Arts Term 1 2026
2026 Production Underway.
It was a busy start to the year for the Arts at Timaru Boys’ High with both auditions and rehearsals for our Boys’/Girls’ High School combined production of ‘We Will Rock You’ a jukebox musical based on songs from the rock band ‘Queen’ which tells the story of a renegade group known as the ‘Bohemians’ who struggle to restore the freedom of thought and culture in a dystopian society. The production will be staged term 2 (June 16th - 19th 2026). Tickets will be made available soon, so keep those dates!
Shakespeare.
There was Shakespeare galore for our senior drama students this term with not only a trip to Girls’ High to watch ‘Ugly Shakespeare’ the “entire” works of Shakespeare shrunken down into one hilarious hour. But also as of the writing of this they will be just about to participate in the regional Shakespeare festival. No doubt they will have made the Bard proud!
Year 10 Drama
Year 10 Drama were given a 'behind the scenes' tour of the South Canterbury Drama League during one of our normal lesson times. This gave the students an opportunity to see the many different aspects of theatre from technology to costumes.
