Division II Swimming Championships 2023

This event was held in Wellington this year, and Timaru Boys’ High School had two competitors; Alex Tudgey and Lachlan Crawford. Swimmers are only allowed to swim in events that they have not gained National qualifying times for, so this can mean that they are not competing in their strongest stroke races.

Alex raced in 6 events. He swam personal bests in 200 Freestyle and 100 Individual Medley. In the 100 Butterfly he placed 3rd in the 16-18 category and in the 200 Butterfly he placed 1st. Overall it was a good meet for him.

Lachlan swam in 8 heats swimming a mixture of Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Individual Medleys. He came away 5 personal best times and knocked a total of 12.60 seconds off his combined swim times. Lachlan's competition highlights were achieving 6th place in the 100m Butterfly and 2nd place in the 200m Butterfly in a time of 2.25.87 which is a National Short Course Championship qualifying time.
