Held in fine conditions at Ashbury Park on Tuesday, May 16th

Timaru Boys’ sent a large and strong team to this regional Event. The team had been training hard and it was also the first unveiling of the fantastic new team singlet

In the Year 9 race over 3000m Louis O’Sullivan went to the front and led the whole way. George Talbot chased hard to claim an impressive 2nd and with Isaac Boorer-Lilly in 6th TBHS comfortably won the team section. Also performing well were Jack Flanagan (7th), Hunter Stevenson (8th), Jake Fisher (9th), Heath Wheeler (11th), Myles Wheeler (13th), Ned Brown (14th), Will Bailey (16th), Isaac Williamson (17th), Gus Archibald (19th), Daniel Heffernan (20th) and Thomas Crawford (25th).

The Under 16 race is also 3000m and our team of Hamish Tilsley (2nd), George Davis (3rd) and Harry Davis (7th) were too strong for the other schools. Also performing with distinction were Jack Houstoun (11th), Riley Hortsmann (12th), Murphy Porter (13th), Wiremu Robertson (15th), Caleb Turner (16th), Reuben McKeown (17th) and Quinn Pratt (30th).

Our Senior team is particularly strong and the battle for top 3 is brutal. Tom Allan dominated the 4500m lap to claim the individual title. Baxter Mason came through on the last lap for a quality 2nd and Josh Young was 4th as TBHS dominated the teams race. Following soon after were Malachy Cleland (5th), Payo O’Sullivan (8th) and Daniel Poulter (9th). Nationals is 6 person team so this category is particularly exciting for the school. Also running well were Max Finlayson (12th), Michael Tilsley (15th), Ryan Caldwell (16th), Blake Parker (17th), Jonty Porter (20th), Mac Brown (21st), Ben Allan (22nd), Luc Todd (24th), Lewis Taylor (30th) and Nashoba Mehlhopt (31st).

It was nice to win the 3 team awards and gives us confidence going into the Southern School on Sunday 28th where our aim is to be the top school in the South Island. Well done to the team and a big thank you to the Year 13 boys who helped out with marshalling on the day
