The South Island Schools Rowing Championships were held in fine conditions at Lake Ruataniwha from March the 11th-13th
TBHS came away with a total of 10 medals (4 Gold, 3 Silver and 3 Bronze)
Sam Wilson came away with a personal haul of 3 golds from the Under 18 Single Sculls, the Double Sculls with William Talbot and the Under 18 Quad with Talbot, Ben Allan, Josh Bartlett and coxswain Finn Gollins. The remaining TBHS crew to capture Gold was the Under 15 Double of Allan and first year rower Payo O’Sullivan.
Earning Silver Medals were Talbot in not only the Under 18, but also the Under 17 Single Sculls and the Under 18 Coxed Quad of Blake Parker, Josh Bartlett, Max Clayton, Mackai Sparks and cox Gollins.
Timaru’s medal haul was rounded out by Bronze’s for Bartlett and Parker in the Under 16 Double, Bartlett in the Under 16 Single and the Under 17 Quad of Parker, Bartlett, Allan, O’Sullivan and Gollins.
This represented a fine return for a squad of only 11 rowers and a confidence booster heading towards the Maadi Cup also at Ruataniwha in a fortnight.
