1st Hockey - A Superb Achievement!

By TBHS | Posted: Thursday August 19, 2021

Congratulations to our 1st XI Hockey on winning their Canterbury Secondary Schools' semi-final against Shirley Boys HS 4-1 to make the final.

With the current lockdown in place, it is disappointing that the game was unable to proceed as planned on Friday August 20th in Christchurch - the match has been delayed with date yet to be confirmed.

It will be a game to remember for Vice Captain Dougal Gibson who received his 100th game cap for the 1st XI.

TBHS  is now being the only unbeaten team in the competition. In last week's game against Shirley Boys', the goals came through Kai Reid (2), Damon Johnson and Ryan Caldwell.

It was an outstanding game from our defensive unit who worked hard all game to diffuse the attacking threat of Shirley.

In the other Semi Final, Christ's College continued their impressive run by beating the previously unbeaten Christchurch Boys HS 1-0.

We are certainly cheering our boys on and trusting this situation can be resolved asap.  The school community extends to both the team and management, our sincere best wishes as they continue to prepare themselves for what will be an extremely challenging game.
