The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) is a 12 day residential programme that began operations with Rotary in Australia as the founding partner and is hosted in Canberra.  The forum is for students entering Year 13 who are passionate about science, technology, engineering and mathematics, aiming to show participants a wide variety of study and career options.

Liam Arthur was fortunate in being selected for this forum which took place in January.

Liam enjoyed the opportunity of meeting with 200 like-minded students who participated in an entrepreneurial and critical thinking lecture, visited a physics research laboratory to see a particle accelerator and lasers in action, interacted with an astrobiologist, experienced lighthearted lab visits with a scientist who performed novel experiments and visited a massive radio telescope which peered deep into space via radio waves. The majority of sessions were lab or lecture based.

Participation in this course has given Liam strong direction for his future studies and he thoroughly recommends participation in such a course as being a life-changing experience.
