The Year 13 Hospitality students have been busy on their assessment days at ARA, with their Pop Up Coffee Shop, where they have been part of a team of students from several schools in the area making coffee for members of the public and ARA staff. There has been lots of positive feedback from members of the public and ARA tutors alike who visited this Pop Up shop.
From this idea, our Year 13 Hospitality students have now opened a Pop Up Coffee Shop, Crimson Brew at school on a Monday morning at intervals for the staff at TBHS.
This Pop Up shop will reinforce and strengthen the skills and knowledge of barista work and customer service that these students have already developed.
The Year 12 Hospitality students have also been engaged in learning new skills which have focused on specific knife cuts, a standard requirement within this industry for example; julienne, brunoise, chiffonade cuts to name but a few. This class has been fortunate to take part in a master class focussing on these skills, run by ARA Chef Steve Le Corre earlier in the term. The students will continue to practice these skills during practical times in class and at home in preparation for the final assessment later in the term.
