"Fusion in the Sun" placed second at the Smokefree Rockquest South Canterbury District finals.
The event was held on Friday 10 June at the Theatre Royal with 16 acts from across the region competing for an opportunity to perform at the National Finals later in the year.
The band, consisting of Harry Hollyer (vocals & guitar), Cameron Ellis (lead guitar and bass), David Ellis (keys and bass), Farran Landers (drum kit) received accolades from the adjudicator who stated he was “impressed with their stage presence, strong sense of musical style and ambitious drumming”.
Their placing allows the band to now prepare a video submission of a live performance for the Rockquest organisation to determine if they will have a spot in the National finals.
