Riley Taylor was the star of the night for TBHS at the Aoraki Secondary Schools Sports Awards, walking away with one of the top awards of the evening - the 2018 Aoraki Male Sportsperson of the Year - for his swimming achievements.
This award has been highlighted by his selection in the New Zealand Silver Squad and a third placing in the Open Men’s 1500 metres Freestyle at the New Zealand Championships. Riley was recently awarded the M J Scott Cup for best sporting performance throughout his school career at the recent TBHS Senior Prizegiving.
The following boys were Category Winners on the night:
Thomas Valentine (Athletics), Taylor Donaldson (Football), Tim Sheed (Hockey), Thomas Waldron (Motocross), Josh Wilson (Rowing), Lucas Mullings (Softball), Riley Taylor (Swimming), James Watt (Tennis), Will Gibson (Water skiing), Jack Black (Wrestling).
Ben Grant (Hockey) won Coach of the Year and Glenn Austin was recognised in the Community and Staff Contribution section for his efforts in Basketball.
