Recent achievements in the Science Department have included the ICAS Science awards and the Sanford Science and Technology Fair.
ICAS SCIENCE AWARDS
The seventeen students from Years 9-12 who sat the ICAS Science exam were awarded seven Credit, one Merit and nine Participation Awards. They were tested on science methodologies of observing and measuring, interpreting skills, predicting and concluding, investigating and reasoning and problem solving. The following student’ scores placed them in the top 16-30% of participants.
Year 9 Credit Certificates: Alec Whitticase, Isaac Davies, Sean Gregan, Anton Faeldin
Year 10 Credit Certificate: Clinton Walker
Year 11 Credit Certificate: Cameron Ellis
Year 12 Credit Certificate: Ryan Davis
Year 12 Merit Certificate: Eleazar Coronado
SANFORD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FAIR
Congratulations to Clinton Walker Year 10 who was awarded a Bronze award in the Year 9 and 10 Individual Science Category at the recent Sanford Science and Technology Fair. Clinton spent his last holidays working in a laboratory in Christchurch investigating the degradation of Vitamin C over time. His high quality project was a testament to his hard work over the holiday break.
