South Canterbury Motorcycle Club held their end of season prizegiving on Saturday 29 June.
The Club holds nine motocross club days per year and one round of racing each day has points allocated to the riders determined by their placing. 1st place=25 pts, 2nd place=22 pts, 3rd place=20 pts, 4th place=18 pts etc.
Two Timaru Boys' High School students, Tom Waldron and Jonty Collins made it to the podium twice. First was for a Junior class 12-16 years 125cc/14-16years 250cc class that saw Tom take out 1st place with 189 points with Jonty coming in 2nd place with 160 points.
The second was for a Senior class MX2 which is a maximum of 250cc motorbikes and 15+ years age group so they were racing against older and experienced riders. Tom took out 1st place with 178 points and Jonty took out 2nd place with 149 points.
Both these boys will represent Timaru Boys' High School at South Island Secondary Schools Championship being held Saturday 13 July. We wish them every success.
