On Monday 18 June, Matt Kennedy, a Year 12 Hospitality student, participated in the ARA Food and Beverage Competition held at the Christchurch Campus where he entered two events.
The first was the New Zealand Beef and Lamb Event which saw Matt preparing and presenting two identical main courses containing beef as the protein, a balance of starch, vegetables and a suitable sauce - all within the 60 minute time frame. In this event Matt competed against professional chefs and produced an impressive dish.
The second event, the National Secondary Schools Culinary Challenge (N.S.S.C.C) saw Matt prepare, cook and present two individually plated portions of an entree course within 60 minutes with New Zealand tomatoes as the principal component of the dish. Congratulations to Matt on winning a Silver Award.
