On Sunday 28 February our Senior A Touch Rugby side travelled to Oamaru to take part in the Aoraki Touch Rugby Championship.
Timaru Boys’ started the day
slowly but built as the day progressed. Their first game was against Waitaki which
was won comfortably 7-3 while the second game of the day was against Mt Hutt
College which was won 5-1 by TBHS. This resulted in a final against Roncalli.
The Roncalli game was a big step up in intensity from the previous two games
and Roncalli played a very structured style of Touch. Timaru Boys’ eventually
won the game and the Aoraki title after beating Roncalli 3-0. Ofa Manuofetoa and Ratu
Nausu played exceptionally well, controlling the plays and the tempo. Ryan
Greenslade and Jono Ellis were outstanding on
defence and Year 10 Jimmy Robertson played very well all tournament and will be a
player to watch in the future.
