HP 48HR Furious Film Making

By TBHS | Posted: Friday May 18, 2018

From 7pm on Friday 11 May until 7pm Sunday 13 May, four TBHS teams were kept busy making a 5min film over a 48 hour time period.

On the Friday night, the teams met in the TBHS music room, waiting with anticipation for the supplied genre, elements, special effects and sound requirements to be included in their movie. After this information was released, they went to their ‘bases’ for the weekend to brainstorm storylines, setting, props and costumes needed.

Cameras at the ready, an early start for many on Saturday morning. meant teams could start filming the necessary (or unnecessary!) shots in readiness to pass over to the team’s editor/s. This saw some team members not getting to bed till very late/early morning on the Saturday/Sunday, then up again early on Sunday to finish off editing, adding music, special effects and whatever else was required before the teams rendered, uploaded and filled out the necessary wrap up forms all before the 7pm cut off.

I am pleased to say that all teams had their films uploaded before the 7pm cut off which then allowed teams to relax and catch up on lost sleep before we met back in the music room to view the films.

All teams did an amazing job and the acting and editing was completed to a very high standard. Teams are now sitting back, waiting to see if their film gets placed in the Otago/Southland regional heats and if their film qualifies for the Dunedin finals before leading on to the nationals.

What a great, exciting, but tiring weekend for everyone involved. A huge thank you to the parents who kept the teams fed, watered and taxied them around as required.
