Sister Cities Timaru invites applications from Secondary School Students to represent the Timaru District on an escorted Educational and Cultural Exchange to Eniwa Hokkaido, Japan. The exchange visit is planned for late June 2016 and will be for 3 weeks, 3 students will be chosen.
A short essay (of between
150 -200 words) stating "Why I would make a good representative of my
District should accompany the application & a current photo.
Applicants will need a current passport & preferably need to reside & attend a High School in the Timaru District. Accommodation would be free. Students will be home hosted possibly by the Japanese families of Eniwa students who recently visited Timaru.
Approx airfare cost to the student $3000 + taxes and optional personal spending ($200-500)
Students shortlisted will be contacted by the sister city Committee for an interview in mid-December 2015
Whilst knowledge of Japanese language & culture is not a pre-requisite, an affinity with Japanese culture would be an advantage. Applications close on Friday 27 November 2015 - forms are available at the Student Office.
