Sport Overview

For many years, Timaru Boys' High School has had a successul local and national profile on the sports field, a direct result of the school's encouragement of boys to participate in sport, and of the team spirit which is developed. Outstanding results are consistently high.

Numerous individuals have gained national sporting honours and have won selection in New Zealand teams with the most famous being Jack Lovelock, Olympic Gold medallist and record holder over 1500m.  Tom Walsh is our most recent success, medalling at numerous Shotput international events and Hayden Paddon continues to be one of New Zealand's most successful rally drivers.  Marc Ryan won  Bronze at the Beijing Olympics in the Cycling Team Pursuit and we watch the rise of recent Old Boy Cullen Grace into the All Black ranks.
