James Watt - An Impressive Tennis Journey
James, who played tennis throughout his time at Timaru Boys’ High School, made his New Zealand Davis Cup debut in 2025, helping the team to victory over Georgia with two important singles wins.
Since then, James has gone from strength to strength, forming a highly successful doubles partnership with fellow New Zealander Finn Reynolds. The pair have won multiple ATP Challenger titles and reached an impressive nine Challenger finals, with James spending much of the year inside the world's top 90 in doubles.
In 2026, James reached a career-high doubles ranking of No. 84, made his ATP-level debut at the ASB Classic in Auckland and represented New Zealand at the French Open at Roland-Garros, marking his first Grand Slam appearance.
His achievements were recognised when he was named NZ Singles Male Player of the Year at the 2025 Tennis in NZ Awards.
James continues to represent New Zealand on the international stage, and we look forward to following his journey. We are extremely proud to call James a TBHS Old Boy!
