MOE - Stepped Attendance Response

At Timaru Boys' High School we value engagement and attendance from our students. Regular attendance supports learning, social relationships and personal growth.

With winter upon us, we understand that there will be more illness in the community and appreciate that if your child is too sick to attend school they should remain at home; however, if there are other circumstances making it difficult for you to get your child to school please let us know so that we can support you and your whanau.

The Ministry of Education have developed a Stepped Attendance Response (STAR) that schools are obliged to follow, the graphics below are useful in helping our school community understand this approach to attendance and the roles of the school and whanau in getting children to school.
