Arts Week 2025

It was a great start for the arts in Term 3 with our full on activity packed Arts Week 2025! Held in Week 2, this year's version of our biennial event saw hundreds of students sign up for a wide range of extracurricular arts activities. From digital painting and creative writing, to fitness dance and decoupage, there were plenty of new art forms for students to have a taste of. It was so good to see so many students take a chance and try something they never would have considered and the positive feedback from students wanting further some of these artforms shows us how important the arts is in our school.

On the Thursday morning of Arts Week, the whole school got to enjoy performances from the Timaru Boys' and Girls' High joint School’s Choir followed by the returning school favourite, ‘Kadodo Music’, who gave the whole school an interactive performance with their African drums. It was loud and chaotic yet just so fun, I don’t think there was a single person in that hall that could wipe the smile off their face.

The Arts Week technically came to a close a week later when we announced the winners of the House Arts competitions. Hogben House won the Wearable Arts category with a beautifully air brushed blazer. Then Simmers House took first place in the Arts & Crafts competition with their war/peace flower Nerf Gun.

A huge thank you to all the staff and external organizers who dedicated their time and effort to making this week such a success. Bring on Arts Week 2027!
