The old Armory building on the western fringe of the Rectory field dates back to TBHS arrival in North St in 1913. It is dilapidated and been on the demolition list for some years.
The rifles have long gone and remnants of the firing range can be sighted behind the Armory. Military exercises and Barracks week finished in the 1970’s.
When the Armory goes Phys Ed storage spaces will be built.
There remains inside the TBHS Armory a rich history of boy’s recording their names on the roof and walls. Several hundred names can be deciphed. Some date back to early 1910’s.
The school’s intention is to preserve the sections of the interior walls and ceiling when building is demolished. A ‘preservation project’ has been proposed to the Old Boy’s Association.
