21-23 June 2024

On the 14th May, Lachlan Crawford, Jack Parry, Oliver Mills and Luke Winter went up to Christchurch for the World Vision Conference. This was a fantastic opportunity for these boys to engage in leadership training that they can use for year 13 and beyond as well as giving them plenty of ideas around fundraising around their goals and those of others.

40-hour Challenge

After being cancelled in 2023, the big event on the calendar that was the 40-hour challenge finally happened this year from the 21st – 23rd June. The big event that the boys had looked forward to finally happened and much interest and excitement had been generated around it since March. The 40 hour challenge started Friday night at 6pm through to 10am Sunday, over 30 boys went without food and were locked up in the gym.

Starting with twelve boys interested, the number soon grew to 20 within days, and then went well into the 30s into the lead up! For the first time this was just students from Timaru Boys’ High School, unlike other years where we had other schools join in with us. It was an impressive turnout from our boys (especially year 12s!) and a true testimony to each one of them for their humanity and good will to make a difference to the lives of those less fortunate.

I am incredibly grateful to the following boys for taking the time to involve themselves in this activity and fund raise towards it; Robert Alamo, McArthur Alexander, Kyle Attewell, Luke Blair, Jack Clark, Lachlan Crawford, Ben De Ruyter, Cooper Dupont, George Eccleston, Tayte Severinson, Tristan Gaffaney, Clive Genet, Jonathan Grant, Charles Hall, Daniel La Grange, Jodan Liang, Nashoba Mehlhopt, Blake Meyer, Kenshin Middlemass, Oliver Mills, Val Pilgrim, Dan Renfree, Sam Roadley, Dylan Scarlett, Swastik Sharma, James Taylor, Archie Thomson, Michael Thorp, Ryan Watt, Ian Willis, Luke Winter and Thomas McKenzie.

Your contributions to help those less fortunate is deeply appreciated and is recognised as making a positive difference by all of us. To all the staff that also gave their support and help during the event, a massive thank you to every one of you.

Overall, we can be proud of our contribution that we have made towards the people of Timor Leste. $3073 was made by the boys. This money will make a huge difference and give thousands of communities in Timor Leste the means to produce resources to thrive.
