Otago Boys and Aoraki Championships
Otago Boys brought up four Seniors and four Juniors for the annual tennis Exchange played this year on the Wai-iti Courts. The TBHS boys selected to play were Ryan Watt (c), Lachlan Adam, Caleb Kelly and Jonty Porter in the Seniors and GP van Heerden, Murphy Porter along with two Year 9 boys Isaac Adam and Isaac Williamson in the Juniors. First up we played doubles and these four games resulted in two wins for each school. Unfortunately, OBHS were too strong in the singles winning seven of the eight games. Ryan and Isaac W took their opponents to super tiebreakers but it was just Isaac Adam who claimed victory here seeing OBHS win the Exchange 9-3
The same eight boys travelled to Ashburton for the Aoraki Championships two days later. Although the weather was good in Timaru for the school athletics sports, Ashburton had a lot of rain and not much game time was possible. Games couldn't started on time and with three times of stopping and starting they decided to stop all the games because of health and safety for the players. There were not enough results to have winners, but Ryan Watt had a great win of 6-2 before all games were called to stop. ALl TBHS boys had great attitudes and good sportsmanship. Looking forward for the upcoming exchange against Waitaki.
