Timaru Boys' High School has recently installed new signage on the admin building, perfect timing while we celebrate Māori language week.
Every year since 1975 New Zealand has marked Māori Language Week. This is a time for all New Zealanders to celebrate te reo Māori (the Māori language) and to use more Māori phrases in everyday life.
With a population of over 875,000 Māori people living in New Zealand and thousands in various nearby islands and countries, the existence of Māori Language Week holds great importance. It is celebrated through language, song, dance, cultural displays, and community events.
