Otago dominate annual exchange

The 1st X1 Football fixture also doubled as an important qualifier for the National tournament to be held later in the year. In what was a physical encounter Otago always held a slight edge to create the more clear-cut scoring chances against an at times anxious home side. This saw them ease out to an important 2-0 win. The junior match was another hard fought match that saw Otago take a 3-2 win.

The Senior Basketball game was a good quality, competitive match with Timaru pushing a strong Otago side throughout there 74-67 win. For TBHS point guard Kade McMillan controlled the offence well, while the athletic Michael Arinze rebounded and shot well. In the Junior match up Otago dominated throughout in their 89-39 victory.

Some mixed option taking and mistakes saw a more urgent OBHS exert pressure throughout most of the 2nd half and draw back to 15-7 before prop Zach Parkin capped a fine performance with his 3rd try right on full-time. In the Colts match Otago were too strong in the first-half and raced out to a 30-0 lead. An improved 2nd half effort from TBHS saw a respectable final 30-12 scoreline.
