The annual exchange was played on the 14th-15th of February in fine, warm conditions which was a welcome change from the recent cold, wet weather that has affected several scheduled sporting events.

The 1st X1 fixture was played at Littlebourne and saw Timaru ask Otago to bat first after winning the toss on a damp wicket. Timaru started well and had OBHS in trouble at 20-3. However, a deep batting line up saw them recover to post a very competitive 215-7 declared. Best of the Timaru attack were debutant George Powell (3-22) and Oliver Linton (3-18.) In reply TBHS were always struggling against an accurate attack backed by good fielding and were dismissed for a disappointing 60. Year 11 Harry Elliotte showed the most fight with the bat to top score with 19. Otago did not enforce the follow on and rattled up 90-3 declared in their 2nd innings to set Timaru 246 to win. Another year 11 Sage Cronje picked up 3-37 with the ball. TBHS showed more application with the bat in the 2nd innings led by Fletcher Rhodes (35) and Ross McCullough (19) but were bowled out in the final hour for 128 to give Otago victory by 118 runs.

The 40 over Colt’s fixture saw Otago similarly dominant after posting a good total of 179-7. Jacob Gilkison with 2-42 was the most successful of Timaru’s bowlers. Chasing 180 for victory TBHS lost wickets steadily to be all out for 57 with only Flynn Brookland (23) offering any real resistance.

The Golf was a competitive fixture played at a St Clair Golf Club in good condition and offering some pristine views. For Timaru Ryan Caldwell at number 2 in the match play format played very well in a dominant 8 & 6 win. The other games while competitive saw OBHS record wins to take a 3-1 victory.

The Tennis played at the Balmacewen Club was very hard fought. OBHS dominated in the doubles taking all 3 matches while Timaru pleasingly won 4 of the 6 singles matches that featured some fine tennis. This saw Otago take the tie 5-4. For TBHS Tom Geary, Ryan Watt, GP van Heerden and Murphy Porter recorded wins in their singles matches.
