Thirteen of our junior boys entered the Aoraki Sanford Science & Technology Fair this year.
The Fair ran in a slightly different format this year due to Covid-19 alert levels; students did not attend to talk to judges about their investigations, public were unable to view the display boards and a live prizegiving could not happen. Our Rector and our Head of Science Department Ms Keri Whytock were pleased to present our students with their awards this week.
- Logan Peck Y10 gained Silver Prize $90, Environment Canterbury Award $50 senior, NIWA (environmental projects) $100, NZ Society of Soil Science Living Mantle book prize and a participation award valued at $20.
- Jacob Adam Y9 gained Silver Prize $90, Ara Institute of Canterbury Award (Human Health) $100, Barkers of Geraldine Award $60 and a participation award valued at $20.
- Luke O’Connor Y9 gained Bronze Prize $80, Environment Canterbury Award $50 senior, NIWA (environmental projects) $200, Irricon resource solutions (solving an environmental problem) $80, Fonterra site visit and a participation award valued at $20.
- Benjamin Jordan Y9 gained Technology Bronze Prize $80 and a participation award valued at $20.
- Sam Roadley Y10 gained Ara Institute of Canterbury (Human Health) $100 and a participation award valued at $20.
- Dan Renfree, Luke Blair, George Eccleston, Daniel Poulter, James O'Connor, Reuben Brown, Luke Winter, and Dylan Scarlett gained participation awards valued at $20.
