We have confirmed that our production of The Lion King jnr is the NZ Premier of the show! What an amazing privilege and responsibility for our students, who are working hard at the moment on adding dance moves to their singing.
The biggest news to date is that we called a special rehearsal on Saturday 12 March to accommodate a visit from some very special guests; Jono and Ben, along with their on-road production team. Jono and Ben played hyenas Shenzi and Ed alongside Liam Busse as Banzai and Jake Mason as Scar. A special thank-you goes out to Donte Segar (Shenzi), Lily Hutson (Shenzi) and Jason Hodgett (Ed) for allowing Jono and Ben to use their puppets, and an extra special thank-you to Penni Naylor for creating these awesome characters! Turns out that the on-road 'sound guy' is none other than a TBHS old boy who was very impressed with our Drama facility.
If you want to help out, we are on the lookout for the following items and skills: Puppet makers, sculptors, leather workers, sewers, beading experts (for both jewellery and costumes), upholstery fabrics in natural/brown/orange/yellow, flax, raffia, camping bedroll, animal fur, animal pelts, bamboo, willow, polythene pipe, ostrich feathers, leather strips, feathers, old duvets, horse hair, possum tails, wide gold/copper bangles.
Contact Diane on segardi@timaruboys.school.nz for more information or to donate items, or drop into the Drama room on Tuesdays or Thursdays after school or Sunday afternoon.
We are very grateful for those who are already involved in fundraising, creating, supporting and marketing The Lion King jnr; without community support, putting on such an epic production (and NZ premier to boot) wouldn't be possible. Thank you for all those working in the background and we look forward to welcoming more supporters into our pride!
