Maadi (NZ Secondary School Championships) was held at Lake Ruataniwha over a week that saw 2089 competitors from 120 schools compete in not only the hottest of days, but the coldest.
The Timaru Boys’ High Rowing squad made it through to seven A finals and three B finals, displaying determination and team spirit, and showing strength after a season of training and competition.
· In the A finals, Josh Wilson and Hamish Yeatman won bronze in the Under 15 double, in a nail biting finish.
· Jack Clayton and James Davidson placed 5th in the A final of the U17 doubles event.
· Jack Blakemore and Ben Bartlett rowed in the B final of the U18 novice double sculls, placing 5th
· In the U17 double sculls B final, Liam Parker and Kallum Puttick placed 5th.
· Will Davidson, Billy McCully, Ben Bartlett, David Edh, Robbie Adams, Ben Bampton, Luke Goodger, Will Tayler, and Harry Blakemore placed 8th in the A final of the U15 coxed eight
· Josh Wilson, Will Davidson, Hamish Yeatman, Fletcher Joyce and Ben Wratt placed 7th in the A final of the U15 coxed quad sculls.
· Billy McCully, David Edh, Jack Blakemore, Robbie Adams and Tom Scott placed 5th in the A final of the U18 novice coxed quad sculls
· Luke Goodger, Ben Bampton, Ben Bartlett, Will Tayler and Harry Blakemore placed 4th in the B final of the U15 coxed four.
· Neil Paver, Jack Clayton, Liam Parker, James Davidson and Tom Scott placed 6th in the A final of the U17 coxed quad,
· Josh Wilson, Will Davidson, David Edh, Hamish Yeatman, Ben Bampton, Robbie Adams, Fletcher Joyce, Will Tayler and Ben Wratt placed 4th in the A final of the U15 coxed octuple
James Davidson ended the successful week by securing a place in the upcoming under 18 South Island squad trials at Lake Ruataniwha.
Timaru Boys’ were well represented by this group of boys. TBHS Rowing appreciate the enormous hours given by coaches Brian Smith, Kylee Corboy and Jamie Vou.
