A Timaru Boys’ High School team comprising Jack Sands, Cathal Guiney and George Guerin won the team event at the South Island Secondary Schools Triathlon Championships held in Oamaru on Sunday 4 March.
Sands
completed the 750 metre harbour swim, followed by Guiney on the 20 kilometre
bike leg, and Guerin finished with the 5km run. The boys recorded a time of 57 minutes
1 second to win by a comfortable margin from Waitaki Boys’.
