Aoraki SS Mountain Biking Championships on Oamaru’s Cape Wanbrow

The sun shone all day on the nine boys racing their mountain bikes on Saturday 15 September at Cape Wanbrow, a rocky headland overlooking Oamaru Harbour.

Despite local schools having the home advantage on some very twisty tracks, we left with some great wins in both the Enduro and Cross Country races. 

• Sam Wilson won the U15 cross-country race in his farm stubbies while the boys in lycra trailed in his dust!
• The U15 Enduro race was won by Pero Forman, with Angus Hyde coming 3rd
• The U19 Enduro race was won by Liam Barclay

This is all good preparation for the upcoming South Island SS MTB champs held in Dunedin the last weekend of the holidays where a team of ten boys will be competing and representing Timaru Boys’ High School.
