Tucked away in a quiet area of our school is the Learning Centre. Providing both in-class and individual support, our teacher aides are based in this physically appealing centre that is equipped with technology and educational resources for students who require support with their learning.
Timaru Boys’ is fortunate to have a wonderfully supportive team working from the Learning Centre.
Overseen by our SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), Sally Hilton, the Learning Centre oversees the supporting of quality teaching for our students with special education needs, (or additional needs as the Ministry of Education is moving towards using) in a mainstream environment. Sally also keeps colleagues up to date with professional information that will assist understanding of some of the special education needs of students at Timaru Boys’ High School.
