Last weekend our rowers competed at the South Island Secondary School Rowing Champs in Twizel.
There were over 1,000 school students competing from 47 different schools around the South Island. Timaru Boys' High School came away with 8 medals: 2 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze. We were placed 7th out of all the schools competing, based on points for placings - this is a huge improvement after coming 26th at the same event last year.
The following crews gained a third placing and a bronze medal:
The under 15 double – Josh Wilson and Hayden Kennedy
The under 18 coxless pair – Tim Hepburn and Brad Cvitanich
The under 16 coxed quad – Neil Paver, James Davidson, Kallum Puttick, Jack Clayton and Fletcher Joyce
The lightweight double – Jamari Vou and Farran Landers
The boys under 18 double – Tim Hepburn and Brad Cvitanich
The following crew gained a second placing and a silver medal:
Boys under 16 double – Jack Clayton and James Davidson
The following crews gained gold medals:
The lightweight coxed four: Jamari Vou, Liam Blackmore, Matthew O’Reilly, Farran Landers and Tom Scott
The under 18 novice double – Liam Parker and Harry Bampton – an impressive win with a whole 13 seconds between them and the silver medallists!
Congratulations boys and best of luck for Maadi Cup next week!
