On 10 April, a team of ten TBHS swimmers headed to Ashburton to compete in the Aoraki Swimming Championship. The team consisted of: Riley Taylor, Reed Stevenson, Campbell Lindblom, Jack Sands, Matthew Moore, Campbell Plows, Dominic Coleman, William Tudgey, Harry Sands and Bede Fisher.
It was another successful meet for our strong swim team. The results and records have yet to be confirmed but preliminary results are listed below.
We won three out of the four relays contested. The senior freestyle and medley team of Riley, Reed, Jack and Matthew won both of their races setting new race records. The junior team of Dominic, Will, Harry and Bede won their freestyle relay and came third in the medley relay, going faster than last year’s junior team for both relays in the process. TBHS won the overall Boys’ Relay Champions Trophy.
- Riley was placed 1st in the Senior Boys’ Championship winning all of his races. He won 1st in the 100 IM, 1st in the 200 Freestyle, 1st in the 200 IM, and 1st in the 100 Freestyle.
- Jack was placed 2nd in the Senior Boys’ Championship. He won 1st in the 100 Backstroke (PB and new record breaking his own 2017 one), 1st in the 100 Breaststroke (PB), 2nd in the 100 IM (PB), and 3rd in the 100 Freestyle (PB).
- Matthew was placed 3rd in the Senior Boys’ Championship. He won 1st in the 100 Butterfly, 2nd in the 200 IM, 3rd in the 100 Backstroke (PB), and 4th in the 100 IM (PB).
- Will was named 2nd in the Junior Boys’ Championship. He gained a 1st in the 100 Backstroke, 1st in the 100 Butterfly, a 2nd in the 200 Freestyle (PB), and 4th in the 100 Freestyle.
- Dominic was named 3rd in the Junior Boys’ Championship. He won 1st in the 200 IM, 1st in the 100 Breaststroke, 3rd in the 200 Freestyle, 5th in the 100 Freestyle.
- Reed gained a 3rd in the 200 IM, 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke (PB), 3rd in the 100 Butterfly (PB), and 5th in the 100 IM.
- Campbell Lindblom gained a 2nd in the 50 Breaststroke, 6th in the 100 Freestyle, 7th in the 100 Backstroke, and 9th in the 100 IM.
- Campbell Plows gained an 4th in the 50 Backstroke, 7th in the 100 Butterfly (PB), 8th in the 50 Freestyle, and 11th in the 100 IM (PB).
- Harry gained a 4th in the 50 Backstroke (PB), 7th in the 100 Backstroke, 10th in 100 IM, and 10th in the 100 Freestyle (PB).
- Bede gained a 6th in the 50 Butterfly (PB), 7th in the 100 Freestyle, 8th in the 50 Freestyle, and 9th in the 100 IM (PB).
