This term saw the Year 12 Outdoor Education class travel down to Stewart Island for a four day tramp.
Flying to the beach at Mason Bay was a highlight for a couple of boys who are currently completing the Aviation Course that is on offer at Timaru Boys’. We then proceeded to walk via three huts back to Oban before flying out again.
The weather conditions were reasonably good with the rain only arriving during the last couple of hours of the trip. Unfortunately this year we had to be content with sighting some friendly robins and other birds as there were no Kiwis to be seen. The third day was a challenge for some boys as we headed over the saddle to North Arm Hut, but overall, the trip was an enjoyable experience for all.
