Timaru Boys' High School Sydney Cricket Tour 2019

A Timaru Boys’ High School Development Cricket side has recently returned from nine days in Sydney, playing games against four Private schools. The team of twelve boys, with representatives from both junior and senior year levels, was successful in winning 2 from 4 and competing well in the first game against St Ignatius College, Riverview.

Caleb Donaldson (52*, 67*) and Toby Clemett (106*) had good tours with the bat and the wickets were shared amongst the bowlers.

The schools provided us with some excellent facilities to both train and play on, with the First Class standard grounds and stands at Shore School (Sydney Church of England Grammar School) certainly a highlight. Our accommodation at St Ignatius was excellent and a casual stroll around the 104 Acres of grounds at the school was certainly pleasant.

Off the field, the tour of the SCG (Sydney Cricket Ground) was great and we were fortunate to attend the NRL Grand Final between the Raiders and the Roosters.

A big thanks to the parents and others that have supported the Cricket Club to ensure this Tour  took place.  Overall, a successful time both on and off the field with Australian hospitality very generous and a trip the boys will remember for years to come.
