On Sunday 25 October, six members of the TBHS Robotics club attended a test and trial scrimmage at CPIT in Christchurch. The aim of the day was to prepare their robot designs for the new National game called ‘Nothing but Net’.
The two teams helped set up
the arena and worked frantically to modify their designs to meet the exacting
required specifications. They both successfully managed to be ready for the
afternoon’s trial scrimmages and performed well, both scoring in the low goal
sections.
Team one (pictured above) consisting of Harry Taylor, Adam Keen and Alec Whitticase designed a rolling lift bot that could collect three balls and push above the goal bar.
Team two consisting of Nico Evans, Matt Kennedy and Timothy Lindbom designed a “dozerbot” that could push the game balls through the low goal bar.
The Club is now looking for a new staff member and/or parent to supervise its activities as Mr Pitcher is returning to the United Kingdom at the end of the school year.
