Taking it Easy....

A relaxing finish resulting from many hours of hard work has paid off for Jack Fulton.

He is one of 28 Year 11 Wood Technology students to undertake the construction of an Adirondack (Cape Cod) Chair base around a standard sized plan. Students have used a range of hand and machine tools to accurately fabricate the many different components, then assemble them with precision to ensure that all the parts align correctly.

Each student has also made alterations to personalise the use of the chair and some students may fabricate an additional item such as a foot stool or small table to complement the chair. Projects that have an authentic outcome are always popular. This is a great learning experience as students can also see the wider picture of producing an item that has commercial value, as well as learning skills that enable opportunities for future employment.
