On Wednesday 24 August, twenty senior students and two staff joined the BCITO Tour to explore opportunities in the Building and Construction Industry.
The boys visited Barrett's Joinery, Kennedy Aluminium and were hosted by Stonewood Homes where they visited several houses at varying build stages in the Hunter Hills Drive area.
The boys were able to speak to young men who were completing or had recently completed their apprenticeships in several different trades. They were also given an experienced overview from employers who highlighted opportunities to gain skills and knowledge in the building industry.
The boys each received a pack that included BCITO apprenticeship information, a high-vis vest, ear plugs, safety glasses, and a beanie. Our students presented themselves very well and were enthusiastic about the day and motivated to find out more either through the school Gateway programme next year or by other means.
