It would be fair to say that Term 1 2020 was one that will not be forgotten in Thomas House memories
The Hostel team started planning early for what we thought the beginning of Term 2 would look like, with the eventual news coming out that we were able to re-open in full capacity on Sunday 17 May. We have been fortunate in welcoming most boarders back into boarding life. The majority of the recent changes have been minor and the boys must be congratulated for their efforts thus far.
The hostel continues to enjoy and celebrate the success of those within
the Thomas House family. As winter sports finally start back up, a number of
hostel students will be pushing for 1st Team honours in a wide range of sports
and other pursuits. We wish them well and are hopeful they will get a full
season.
Last week Harry Delaney was presented his Thomas House Prefect badge by Head Boarder George Small. Harry has displayed many of the hostel values and it was great to see a young man rewarded for his continued hard work and positive attitude.
We were sad to recently farewell two staff members during the lockdown period. Zack Reimer has been a well-respected House Master since 2019. Zack and his family have moved to Christchurch to take up a position at a new school. Luke McGuire was a GAP student at Thomas House from the beginning of this year. Luke accepted a repatriation flight back to the UK toward the end of the lockdown. We thank Luke for the many hours spent driving students to and from sports games and training’s.
If you are interested in boarding in 2021, applications are still being taken. Boarding offers the unique opportunity to live on site within a well-equipped and highly regarded boarding facility. We currently have positions available in Year 11 for 2021. For further information, please email Richard Fogarty, Director of Boarding fogartyri@timaruboys.school.nz
