The Drama department is, once again, gearing up for student performances in Term 3.

Drama teacher, Morag Carter will be directing the Year 12 students in their production of The Importance of Being Ernest while the department is thrilled to welcome back Timaru Boys’ High School Old Boy Don McCully (1963 – 1966) to direct The Book of Fame with Year 11 students.

The Importance of Being Earnest, written by Oscar Wilde is a canonical piece of 19th Century British Theatre telling the story of best friends Jack and Algernon who use pseudonyms to escape their daily lives; Jack to town and Algernon to the country.

The Book of Fame written by Carl Nixon debuted at the Christchurch Arts Festival in 2003. The Book of Fame tells the story of an unlikely bunch of lads heading to the UK in 1905 as All Blacks in the tour that made the team famous in New Zealand and around the world.

Both plays will be performed in the Drama Room and will be open to the public.
