As part of the TBHS Rite Journey Programme, we ask our boys to complete two physical challenges that take place during the year.
The final Solo challenge in November can contribute to this achievement.
One of these opportunities is happening this Sunday 1 March: the annual Timaru North Rotary Club Hadlow to Harbour fun run/walk. This event gives students an option of either a 3km run (departing Countdown Church Street at 9:45am) or the 10km run/walk from Hadlow Road (9:30am start).
We would like to challenge the boys to complete either the 3km or the 10km options. If competing, we ask that the boys compete wearing TBHS School PE uniform. This event reinforces our school POWER values and the values of the Rite Journey Program. Participating costs for this event will be covered by The Rite Journey. For more information, go their website: https://www.h2h.org.nz/
Another Rite Journey event is “The Calling” on Thursday 5 March (weather dependent), where the boys all walk to South Beach as a class. Once at the beach, the boys will spend time reflecting on who they are and give thought to those who have helped get them to this point.
During this time of reflection, students identify a negative behaviour in their life that they would like to stop, or take steps to have a less negative impact in their lives. They then write this behaviour down on the rock and cast it into the ocean, a symbolic gesture.
We ask that boys wear suitable footwear and bring a drink bottle and sunscreen.
