I see it as a privilege to be given the opportunity to lead the current Board in my role as Chairperson.
During my previous term on the board at Timaru Boys’ I chaired the Property Committee, the Thomas House Hostel Committee and I am currently Chairperson of the Hostel Parent’s Association.
Together with members of our school community I have helped to develop the Thomas House Building proposal. This project is currently in the process of seeking Ministry of Education approval. It will be an exciting development for the hostel with modern facilities that will help maintain the school roll. Timaru Boys’ will be able to continue with its long tradition of providing boarding accommodation.
It is pleasing that we have a full board table with a committed group of parents prepared to take up the responsibility of being a board member. Our challenge as board members is to work alongside the staff at Timaru Boys’ to ensure that when students leave this school, they are well rounded young men who will make a positive contribution to society.
Having had three boys already complete their secondary education at Timaru Boys’ and with our youngest son in Year 10, I want to be involved at governance level to assist in making the right decisions for this school.
