The Sport Canterbury Sports Awards held on Friday 14 May saw great representation from Timaru Boys' High School - with both current students and Old Boys reaping awards.
Old Boy Cullen Grace won the overall award for Sportsperson of the Year after being selected into the All Blacks in 2020 and being a regular starter for the champion Crusaders side.
1st XI Coach and Old Boy Ben Grant won the overall award for Official of the Year after being appointed to the Premier League and umpiring both the SC and Canterbury Men’s Finals.
The TBHS U15 Rowing Quad won the overall Team of the Year award after picking up gold at the Maadi Cup in 2021 and that squad featured 1st XI midfielder Blake Parker.
Brian Smith collected the overall Coach of the Year trophy after leading the TBHS U15 Rowing Quad to gold at Maadi Cup.
The Young Sportsperson of the Year high achiever was Noah Hollamby and guest speaker for the night, Old Boy Dick Tayler, was proudly inducted into the South Canterbury Sports Hall of Fame with his gold medal efforts in the 10000m at the 1974 Commonwealth Games.
