Ben Deeley, Cameron Anderson & Mitchell Dey represented Football South at the National Federation 15th Grade Tournament in Wellington in December.
Each of the seven Federations - Northern, Auckland, Waikato-Bay of Plenty, Central, Capital, Mainland and Football South - sent teams to the tournament, the teams consisting of current Federation Talent Centre players from around the country. Football South’s Football Development Manager Shane Carvell said the tournament is a great opportunity for Federation Talent Centre players to compete against their peers from around the country. “Our Football South teams will be pitting themselves against the best players from each federation along with the added bonus of having the national age group coaching and scouting staff from New Zealand Football in attendance at all the games. These players don’t get this opportunity anywhere else, so it’s great that we’re able to give these footballers such an exciting experience.” The Football South 15th Grade Boys finished 3rd overall, they won three games, drew one and lost two only missing out on winning the Tournament by one point. The three THBS students acquitted themselves extremely well and Ben Deeley was selected in Central Midfield for the MVP 15th Grade Tournament Team.
