Timaru Boys sent four Junior teams to contest the National Rogaining championships on Sunday, 1 August at Orton Bradley Park on Banks Peninsula.
A rogaine is an adventure race where teams locate “controls” over a vast terrain and score points for doing so. Teams are given maps prior to starting and plan their route accordingly. There were 6 hour, 4 hour and 2 hour options with TBHS teams entering the 2 hour race.
TBHS 9 Blue:-Timaru Boys' High School (Jonty Porter, Ryan Bell, Jack Parry) 740 points. These boys did particularly well, were 9th overall and 2nd place in the Junior boys category.
TBHS 9 White: Timaru Boys' High School (McArthur Alexander, Dylan Scarlett, Nashoba Mehlhopt) scored 330 points (3rd Junior team and 14th overall) which included a 100 point penalty for coming in a few minutes over 2 hours.
TBHS 10 White: Timaru Boys' High School (Kenta Sato Allen, Reuben Dann, Echo Welch) placed 12th overall and 3rd in Intermediate boys with 370 points.
TBHS 10 Blue: Timaru Boys' High School (Jodan Liang, Aidan Griffin, Jack Browning, Ben De Ruyter) were 4th in Intermediate boys with 280 points and an overall placing of 15th.
